The mobile space has managed to carve out a very important place in the world of business. The advent of mobile technology has forced companies both large and small to take mobile more seriously, leveraging their resources to connect with an emerging generation of mobile consumers. Mobile marketing, however, has proven difficult for the business world, with display advertisements and banners posting lackluster results. Mobile games appear to be showing the most success when it comes to marketing, but businesses have traditionally considered games to be novelty at best.

Report highlights investments behind mobile games

According to a recent report from Digi-Capital, an investment bank, investments in mobile games spiked by 35% in the first quarter of this year. Investments in every other gaming fields showed only modest growth at best, if not declines in certain aspects. Despite this growth, the investments behind mobile games are leveling off as investors begin to grow shrewder and small development companies either go out of business or are assimilated into their larger counterparts.

Market showing signs of maturing

Some would argue that investors showing more concern for the mobile games space is a sign that the market is on the verge of a fall. This may not be the case, however, as the market is beginning to show signs of maturity and stabilization. New developers are entering the field at a rapid rate and mobile marketing has helped many of these developers find the success they need to continue producing mobile games. Moreover, new business models are emerging that are proving very popular among consumers, as is the case with the free-to-play model.

Marketing helps mobile games thrive

Mobile games have thrived off the effective use of mobile marketing strategies. In-game advertisements are seen by all those playing games. While many gamers may not actively engage in these advertisements, a significant portion of these gamers are willing to do so simply to remove their presence on the screen of their mobile device. If these advertisements are catered to the interests of consumers, they are more likely to see engagement.

Double Linx has just released a new report that has pointed out that mobile marketing is providing small businesses with the opportunity to experience much faster growth than they have without it.

This point was underscored in the study when it occurred over the use of top social media channels.

The report suggested that if a business fails to take steps into mobile marketing, its potential may not be as great. The reason is that there will be an entire world of Facebook, Google+ and Twitter fans that may not be reached at all, even when they are each holding a device that could be used to communicate with them all at any given time.

The report says that 80 percent of small businesses who use mobile marketing see new business growth.

The publication drew attention to the results of a Web.com Group study that indicated that four out of every five small businesses employing mobile marketing techniques have also experienced increases in the levels of their new business. This is similar to the findings that have been produced by IDC, which have suggested that Facebook is holding its position as one of the leading three purposes for which consumers use their smartphones.

Similarly, over 70 percent of all of the people from the IDC survey had used Facebook that day. The majority of them used their devices to access the social network several times per day.

The Double Linx report said that “The results have surprised some given the sheer volume of use the networking site has, and indicates that the group of Facebook users provides a huge growth opportunity for a wide array of businesses who have the savvy to utilize the survive properly.” It went on to say that the number that go on to take advantage of this mobile marketing opportunity above and beyond the basics and take off above that point will be the ones that will see the largest growth in their business demographic.

They pointed out that mobile marketing will become a central part of the success of the businesses that use it.
