About NAND Flash

NAND flash memory is a non-volatile storage technology which does not require power to retain data. NAND flash development reduces the cost per bit. It maximizes chip capacity as the cells are connected in series connection and occupies lesser space than the ones connected in parallel connection. Thus, NAND flash costs 40 percent cheaper than NOR flash device at the 1 GB levels. NAND flash is used in devices that require large amount of data organized on a block or file basis, and also those that require both read and write operations. The write time in NAND flash is much faster than that of NOR devices. NAND devices are commonly available in 128 MB to 1 TB densities for packaged products. NAND flash used for mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets PCs, are referred to as mobile NAND flash memory.
