San Francisco, CA, April 11, 2019 –(PR.com)– Behavioral marketing design firm Next Step today announces a new partnership with the Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA), one of the nation’s more than 3,500 public housing agencies. The partnership’s initial focus will introduce the housing authority’s first web-based app to low-income families and participants in the Section 8 housing assistance program. SCCHA helps make rental housing safe and affordable for low-income families through federal Section 8 voucher programs and below-market rental properties. Next Step is a full-service marketing digital design agency that uses science-backed research to remove friction from the decision-making process at every single stage.
“As Santa Clara County’s largest provider of affordable housing assistance, SCCHA strives to provide housing assistance to as many eligible families as possible,” says Shirin Oreizy, Next Step’s Founder and President. “We’re excited to create outreach campaigns that include behavioral science interventions so this agency can help even more low-income people find and keep housing.”
SCCHA’s newest customer service tool is a web-based mobile app that’s designed to simplify and improve the agency’s communications with tenants and Section 8 program applicants.
“SCCHA’s web-based mobile tenant app is being developed in direct response to the needs of the families the agency is helping to house,” says Brad Swain, Next Step’s resident Behavioral Scientist. “Next Step’s behavioral science interventions are well suited for helping SCCHA roll out its new app to clients because behavioral science is good at taking big ideas and translating them into simple actions that people can take that will lead to better outcomes.”
One big insight from behavioral science is that people don’t always act on what they know. “There’s reams of data on how to be healthy, for example, but when we try to execute on those ideals, we tend to fall short,” explains Swain. “That’s the so-called ‘action versus knowledge gap.’”
“Making the process simpler and increasing motivation is something that behavioral science excels at,” says Swain. “That’s where Next Step can help SCCHA create an impact on people’s lives.”
SCCHA is the largest provider of affordable housing assistance in Santa Clara County, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for low-income families through Section 8 voucher programs and below-market rental properties. Designated a Moving to Work agency by Congress, it has the capacity to assist nearly 18,000 households through innovative policies for the delivery of assisted housing.
